BT09 Murakumo

Welcome back with us in Resistance's Blog!

Yesterday was a pretty tiring day, isn't it? I'm almost overwhelmed with all those BT09 leaks. Especially "that" Ezel overhype.

Anyway, beside the aforementioned Ezel (and Gold Paladin overall), October 2012 KeroKero Ace also give us a glimpse on the new cards for Nova Grappler (dat Cross Ride!), Angel Feather, and most importantly... Murakumo.

Originally introduced in EB01 and expanded in BT05, Murakumo were mostly known for their interesting Ninja-like effect (field manipulation, shadow clones, etc). However, they also seriously lacked in power, with most of their rear-guards only able to reach 16k and capped at 20k. But with BT09, Murakumo started to keeping up in terms of power and Limit Break.

Stealth Dragon, Magatsu Wind
Grade 0 / Murakumo - Abyss Dragon / Power 4000 / Shield 10000

[AUTO]:When a <Murakumo> other than a card named "Stealth Dragon, Magatsu Breath" rides this unit, you may call this card to (RC).

Stealth Dragon, Magatsu Breath

At the beginning of the end phase of that turn, put those unit to the bottom of your deck in any order.

Stealth Dragon, Magatsu Gale
Grade 2 / Murakumo - Abyss Dragon / Power 9000 / Shield 5000
[CONT](VC):If you have a card named "Stealth Dragon, Magatsu Breath" in your soul, this unit gets [Power] +1000.

At the beginning of the end phase of that turn, put those unit to the bottom of your deck in any order.
[CONT](VC):If you have a card named "Stealth Dragon, Magatsu Gale" in your soul, this unit gets [Power] +1000.

Stealth Dragon, Royale Nova

[AUTO](VC)/(RC):When this unit attacks, this unit gets [Power] +2000 until end of that battle.

The new Ride Chain series for Murakumo. It guarantee an early push if you successfully ride until the grade 3 and the Limit Break also gives you free unit while preserving your hand (not to mention the 3k boost). Pretty good IMO, but seems that they was outshined by other BT09 spoilers.

Other than the Magatsu series, here's the other currently know Murakumo units from BT09, along with a G3 searcher starting Vanguard whose name (unfortunately) cannot be properly read...

Stealth Beast, Cat Devil
Grade 0 / Murakumo - High Beast / Power 4000 / Shield 10000 / Critical Trigger
[ACT](RC):[Put this unit into your soul] Choose up to one of your <Murakumo>, and that unit gets [Power] +3000 until end of turn.

[ACT](RC):[Counter-Blast 1 & Put this unit on the bottom of your deck] If you have a <Murakumo> vanguard, search your deck for up to one card named "Stealth Beast, Gigantoad", call it to (RC), and shuffle your deck.

Stealth Beast, Gigantoad
Grade 3 / Murakumo - High Beast / Power 10000 / No Shield
[CONT](VC):During your turn, if you have another "Stealth Beast, Gigantoad" on your (RC), this unit gets [Power] +3000.
[CONT](RC):During your turn, if you have another "Stealth Beast, Gigantoad" on your (RC), this unit gets [Power] +1000.

Stealth Ogre of Kanabou, Arahabaki
Grade 3 / Murakumo - Demon / Power 10000 / No Shield
[AUTO](VC)/(RC):When this unit is boosted by a <Murakumo>, this unit gets [Power] +2000 until end of that battle.

While this support finally able to keep Murakumo in line with most decks, they still deserve more with all of those Cross Ride in this set. So... Time to cross fingers for now and wait for next month's KeroKero Ace.

As usual, see you latter next time~

Crimson Nursewind

Welcome back to Resistance's Blog, now in English!

Recently the latest CFV Anime revealed five new Angel Feather cards, with four of them were related to each other as a new superior ride series, the Crimson Nursewind.

Crimson Heart, Nahas
Grade 0 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 5000 / Shield 10000
[AUTO]:Forerunner (When another unit of the same clan rides this unit, you may call this card to (RC).)
[ACT](RC):[Put this unit into your soul & Choose a unit named "Crimson Mind, Baruch" from your (RC), and put it into your soul] If you have a unit named "Crimson Drive, Aphrodite" on your (VC), search your deck for up to one card named "Crimson Impact, Metatron", ride it, and shuffle your deck.

Crimson Mind, Baruch
Grade 1 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 7000 / Shield 5000
[ACT][Damage zone]:[Turn this card face down] Choose one of your <Angel Feather> vanguard, it gets [Power] +3000 until end of turn.

Crimson Drive, Aphrodite
Grade 2 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 9000 / Shield 5000
[ACT][Damage zone]:[Turn this card face down] Choose one of your <Angel Feather> vanguard, it gets [Power] +3000 until end of turn.

Crimson Impact, Metatron
Grade 3 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 10000 / No Shield
[ACT](VC)[Limit-Break 4](This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter-Blast 1 & Choose two of of your <Angel Feather> rear-guards, and put them into your damage zone] Choose two face up <Angel Feather> from your damage zone, and call them to separate (RC). During this turn, you cannot use this effect again.
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, this unit gets [Power] +3000 until end of that battle.

The grade 0, Crimson Heart, Nahas is the exact copy of Crimson Lion Cub, Kyrph. Also, starting with this card, one of the common ability for starting vanguard (calling itself RC when ridden with unit of the same clan) has given an official term: 先駆 (senku, lit. forerunner; pioneer; precursor; herald; outrider).

The grade 1 and grade 2, Crimson Mind, Baruch and Crimson Drive, Aphrodite possess a skill unique to themselves so far. If you have one of them in damage zone, you may turn it face-down to give your vanguard +3k boost until the end of turn.

The grade 3, Crimson Impact, Metatron is the centerpiece of the series. With her Limit Break, you may swap 2 of your rear-guards with 2 cards in your damage zone. While mainly used to swap weaker units for stronger ones, there's lot of things you can do with her Limit Break:

  • If you have The Phoenix, Calamity Flame or Million Ray Pegasus as attacker, swap the unit behind them with any 6k or 7k boost (7k and 8k if using Pegasus) for 20k or 21k line, respectively
  • If you have Thousand Ray Pegasus as booster, swap the rear-guards in front of it with any 9k or 10k attacker for 20k or 21k line, If Pegasus is behind Metatron, then you'll hit the 23k line for Cross ride
  • Like what Rekka did in the anime, swap the grade 1 and 2 Crimson Nursewind with any unit, then use their effect for additional 3k or 6k for Metatron. Best used with the above method to burn through your opponent's shield

Other than the ability to generate constant *uhuk* Power Line *uhuk*, Metatron's Limit Break (and by extension, the grade 1 and grade 2 skill) also have some synergy with Nociel series, especially the grade 2 to make up for the Counter-Blast cost. You can either call the grade 2 Nociel manually or by using Metatron's skill to automatically open the flipped cards. Next turn, if Nociel still survived, use the Limit Break again and swap Nociel with stronger unit (or call it again for a loop).

Compared to Chief Nurse, Shamsiel's Limit Break, Metatron's Limit Break seems more geared toward offense rather than defense. Still need more playtesting though to see how it'll turn out.

That's all for now, and see you later~
