Crimson Nursewind

Welcome back to Resistance's Blog, now in English!

Recently the latest CFV Anime revealed five new Angel Feather cards, with four of them were related to each other as a new superior ride series, the Crimson Nursewind.

Crimson Heart, Nahas
Grade 0 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 5000 / Shield 10000
[AUTO]:Forerunner (When another unit of the same clan rides this unit, you may call this card to (RC).)
[ACT](RC):[Put this unit into your soul & Choose a unit named "Crimson Mind, Baruch" from your (RC), and put it into your soul] If you have a unit named "Crimson Drive, Aphrodite" on your (VC), search your deck for up to one card named "Crimson Impact, Metatron", ride it, and shuffle your deck.

Crimson Mind, Baruch
Grade 1 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 7000 / Shield 5000
[ACT][Damage zone]:[Turn this card face down] Choose one of your <Angel Feather> vanguard, it gets [Power] +3000 until end of turn.

Crimson Drive, Aphrodite
Grade 2 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 9000 / Shield 5000
[ACT][Damage zone]:[Turn this card face down] Choose one of your <Angel Feather> vanguard, it gets [Power] +3000 until end of turn.

Crimson Impact, Metatron
Grade 3 / Angel Feather - Angel / Power 10000 / No Shield
[ACT](VC)[Limit-Break 4](This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter-Blast 1 & Choose two of of your <Angel Feather> rear-guards, and put them into your damage zone] Choose two face up <Angel Feather> from your damage zone, and call them to separate (RC). During this turn, you cannot use this effect again.
[AUTO](VC):When this unit attacks a vanguard, this unit gets [Power] +3000 until end of that battle.

The grade 0, Crimson Heart, Nahas is the exact copy of Crimson Lion Cub, Kyrph. Also, starting with this card, one of the common ability for starting vanguard (calling itself RC when ridden with unit of the same clan) has given an official term: 先駆 (senku, lit. forerunner; pioneer; precursor; herald; outrider).

The grade 1 and grade 2, Crimson Mind, Baruch and Crimson Drive, Aphrodite possess a skill unique to themselves so far. If you have one of them in damage zone, you may turn it face-down to give your vanguard +3k boost until the end of turn.

The grade 3, Crimson Impact, Metatron is the centerpiece of the series. With her Limit Break, you may swap 2 of your rear-guards with 2 cards in your damage zone. While mainly used to swap weaker units for stronger ones, there's lot of things you can do with her Limit Break:

  • If you have The Phoenix, Calamity Flame or Million Ray Pegasus as attacker, swap the unit behind them with any 6k or 7k boost (7k and 8k if using Pegasus) for 20k or 21k line, respectively
  • If you have Thousand Ray Pegasus as booster, swap the rear-guards in front of it with any 9k or 10k attacker for 20k or 21k line, If Pegasus is behind Metatron, then you'll hit the 23k line for Cross ride
  • Like what Rekka did in the anime, swap the grade 1 and 2 Crimson Nursewind with any unit, then use their effect for additional 3k or 6k for Metatron. Best used with the above method to burn through your opponent's shield

Other than the ability to generate constant *uhuk* Power Line *uhuk*, Metatron's Limit Break (and by extension, the grade 1 and grade 2 skill) also have some synergy with Nociel series, especially the grade 2 to make up for the Counter-Blast cost. You can either call the grade 2 Nociel manually or by using Metatron's skill to automatically open the flipped cards. Next turn, if Nociel still survived, use the Limit Break again and swap Nociel with stronger unit (or call it again for a loop).

Compared to Chief Nurse, Shamsiel's Limit Break, Metatron's Limit Break seems more geared toward offense rather than defense. Still need more playtesting though to see how it'll turn out.

That's all for now, and see you later~

  1. Ideal setting:
Crimson Impact, Metatron as VG with 4+ damage.
    3 Thousand-Ray Pegasus in backrow.
2 Love Machine Gun, Nociel in frontrow.
At least 1 copy of any of these 3 in the Damage Zone: Fever Nurse Angel; Crimson Mind, Baruch; or Crimson Drive, Aphrodite.

The move: First use whomever is in the DamZ to boost Metatron +3k. Then, Limit Break (Counter Blast a card you want in your hand for this). Send Nociels to DamZ, then call them back (yes, this is fully legal, as they are face-up in the DamZ, thus meeting Metatron's requirements). Then, use Nociel Skills; send a card from hand to DamZ, retrieve the Crimson/Fever that boosted Metatron; send the newly retrieved Crimson/Fever to the DamZ, retrieve other Counter Blasted card from Limit Break. 4 cards entered DamZ, so Pegasi +8k apiece. You now swing with 23k Nociels and 31k Metatron.
